Some of our Projects

Operation We Care (OWC)

A local organization that supports active-duty deployed military throughout the world. Twice a year OWC packs 800 to 1,000 care packages which are sent to individuals wherever they are located during their deployment. Samuel Chase supports OWC by collecting needed items and helping to pack boxes.

Lap Robes

Another one of our ongoing yearly projects. Daughters gather monthly to knit/make/sew lap robes from donated materials and yarns.  Working closely with our local nursing homes, these lap robs are gifted to veterans residing in the nursing homes in honor of their service.  We distribute these gifts around Veterans Day, November 11th.

A Few of Our Recent Activities

February 2022

The Samuel Chase Chapter's annual Good Citizens Awards program was held at our February 5 meeting. Four area high school seniors wrote essays that were presented at this meeting. What an amazing group of young ladies they are. Good Citizen Chair and Co Chairs beautifully hosted the program in-person while several members, the students, parents, guidance counselors, school officials, and special guests joined Samuel Chase virtually.

Twelve Salisbury, MD members and three members living in FL, SC, and MT wrote heartfelt messages to the Veterans and delivered or mailed our chapter  A son of one of our members, wrote three of his own. I think heLuke nailed our sentiments perfectly! Special thanks to our member who requested a project from our MD State Chair - Service For Veterans and VAVS representative, and our MD State Chairhy came through for us. Our member initiated this while completing the Members Course Module - Service for Veterans.

Poplar Hill Mansion Festival, Salisbury, Maryland.  Samuel Chase Daughters and Marine reenactors offered the community a glimpse of life during the 1812 time period. The tall black hats were known as "common hats" -- such hats would have been as popular as wearing a baseball cap today. The phrase on the flag, Non Sibi Sed Patriae, is a Latin for "Not for self, but for country." The gentleman wearing the blue bicorn hat represented "landed gentry" in service to the War 1812.
